Ming is responsible for volofin’s quantitative analytics, technology and application development teams. He overseas a group of quantitative analytics, applications developers and data analysts that have developed and continuously refine multiple proprietary process and analytics tools. Ming has over 10 years of experience specializing in commercial aviation structured finance, quantitative and predictive analytics.  He joined volofin from Magnetar Capital LLC where he was a key member of the Fixed Income Group’s aviation investment team.  Ming led the development of a proprietary quantitative model that provided the investment team with cash flow modeling tools to assess the return profiles and asset pricing for complex lease, financing and structured finance transactions.  The state-of-the-art quantitative model provides fully integrated scenario planning tools and return sensitivity assessment based on several key variables. In addition to his work with the aviation team, Ming was involved with Magnetar Capital’s corporate credit team, where he developed machine learning models to assess default probabilities, optimize portfolio and tranche pricing, and assist portfolio managers with the assessment and management of bespoke CLO and CDO transactions and portfolios.  Ming also supported members of the equity arbitrage team by developing sophisticated models (including statistical learning methods) to evaluate transactions and develop investment strategies.  Prior to joining Magnetar Capital, Ming worked at Morgan Stanley from 2010 through 2011 where he developed derivatives pricing and risk measurement models.  Ming earned Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Engineering Degrees (majoring in Control Theory and Engineering) from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences (majoring in Financial Engineering and minors in Statistics and Stochastic Modeling) from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
